John Shannon of Abbeville, South Carolina (d. 1814)

There was a John Shannon who died in Abbeville County, SC in 1814 who some claim to be our John Shannon.  However, there are some problems with this.  We have documentation that confirms the John Shannon who left estate records in Pendleton District, SC in 1815 was the ancestor of our line, and he lists Sarah as his wife, and six grown children.   The John who dies nearby in Abbeville country about the same time has a wife named Elizabeth and two young sons, James and Robert, in boarding school somewhere.     I tend to believe this is simply a coincidence.   They are clearly not the same person.  Although, it is quite coincidental that two men with the same name would die so close in time and location
